We’re excited to announce a new speaker series at Urban Airship San Francisco. The series, titled “Morning Liftoff,” will include an array of technology speakers that will go beyond the nuts-and-bolts of systems and tools to dive into some of the more abstract and challenging issues facing startups today. Topics will span managing technical complexity, to growing and cultivating a supportive company culture, to learning a thing or two about how the business end of technology works.
The first event will be next Friday, November 15th at 10am at the Urban Airship San Francisco office, featuring Erik Onnen, the Vice President of Architecture at Urban Airship. His talk will provide an overview of how Urban Airship tailors its selection and usage of databases for its messaging delivery system to achieve the often-conflicting goals of high throughput and low latency, all while aiming for horizontal scalability with high availability.
Come early and grab a light breakfast of bagels, coffee, and tea before taking a seat. Talks will be short and sweet: we plan on keeping them to under 45 minutes so you can get back to work.
Future speakers include people such as Michal Migurski, Code for America; Lynn Root, Red Hat; Alex Gaynor, Rackspace; Lisa Moreno, Urban Airship; and Paul Hammond. Stay tuned for future dates!
Please sign-up here. We have limited space so please respond early. We’re very excited to open up our office to these incredible speakers and the broader tech community, and look forward to starting something a bit new and different in San Francisco.
