As the fourth and final tennis major comprising the Grand Slam tournaments, the US Open Tennis Championships running through Sept. 9 caps off what has been an amazing year in the world of professional tennis. Lucky fans, like our own Bob Garcia pictured below, get to see all the action live, while the rest of us can tune into broadcasts or keep abreast of all the action and news as it unfolds through the official app created by the United States Tennis Association in partnership with IBM.
The app’s homepage allows fans to view a chronological timeline of news, photos, videos and tweets taking place throughout tournament with match schedules, results and live point-by-point scores. Special features from American Express include TrendCast to stay abreast of trending social conversations, as well as live ball-by-ball radio coverage with interactive Q&A from match commentators answering user-submitted questions via Twitter.
Fans can follow the progress of their favorite players through customizable push alerts and see major upsets unfold, such as the No. 296 ranked Victoria Duval come-from-behind victory against 2011 champion Samantha Stosur.
If you're actually at the US Open the app provides even more functionality with interactive maps and other useful info, including geo-targeted push notifications and special content from Esurance on the top 10 things to do at the tournament.
