Transition FAQs

Does Twilio support the transition of Twilio Engage Premier to Airship?

Do I need to create a new subaccount in Twilio (or subuser in SendGrid)?

  • While it is not a requirement, Airship recommends creating a new subaccount or subuser to isolate your Airship messaging activity from other messaging activity you may already be sending directly via Twilio. Billing for the delivery of email or SMS will continue to be done within your Twilio account. If you wish, you can use your existing Twilio account (parent or subaccount)

Can I keep all my campaigns in Airship?

  • Yes. Your dedicated Airship Technical Consultant will help you transition your Twilio data and templates so they can work in the same way as they do now to avoid any delays or downtime. Airship can import SMS or email messages containing handlebar or Liquid syntax for message personalization.

Can I import an existing audience into Airship?

  • Yes. We support CSV list upload of existing email or SMS audiences, as well as APIs that can register them on our platform. All channels added require a record of opt-in to prevent messaging audience members that have not consented to receive messaging.

How long does it take for a customer to get started using Airship?

  • We suggest 1 – 2 weeks to have senders configured and integrated into Airship. Also 2-4 weeks for customers to become familiar with the Airship platform, and to import any audience lists and/or campaign templates.

Is there a deadline to transition our campaigns to Airship?

  • There is no immediate deadline, but Twilio will no longer continue developing or enhancing Engage Premier with the view to completely sunset the product by the end of 2025. 

Are there any particular benefits to moving to Airship from what I have currently with Engage Premier?
