Oct 22, 2026Permission Request Action for Scenes
Prompt for various native OS permissions in your Scenes.
The Permission action opens the native OS system prompt on mobile apps when a user taps a button, image, or screen. You can use it for the following permissions:
- Apple’s App Tracking Transparency
- Bluetooth
- Camera
- Contacts
- Location
- Microphone
- Photo library
- Push
The Permission action replaces the Push Opt-in and Location Opt-in actions for mobile app Scenes. Existing Scenes using either action map automatically to the matching permission type, so no manual updates are needed. Web Scenes and In-App Automation continue to use the existing Push Opt-in and Location Opt-in actions unchanged.
We also added the Copy to Clipboard action for buttons, images, and screens. The text supports HandlebarsHandlebars is Airship’s templating language for personalization. Handlebars expressions use double curly braces wrapped around a content template, ranging from a simple variable, e.g., {{first_name}}, to complex evaluations of personalization data., so you can copy personalized content such as a promo code.
Requirements and documentation
The location and push opt-in permission types work with your existing SDK. The other permission types require minimum SDKs iOS 21 and Android 21.
For configuration details, see Permission and Copy to Clipboard in Actions for in-app experiences.
