Message Center Scenes

Deliver native app experiences to inboxes with Message Center Scenes.

View as Markdown

Scenes persist in a Message Center inbox. When a user returns to a message, it resumes from the last-viewed screen, and any responses to questions and NPS ratings are preserved. All Scene features are supported, including branching and story mode. And because the content is native to the mobile OS, it has better support for assistive technologies such as screen readers than HTML content.

Providing a Scene in Message Center is ideal for scenarios like these:

  • Feature announcements — Announce new features in a message users can revisit.
  • Onboarding and education — Guide users through setup or product education, and they can later pick up where they left off.
  • Feedback collection — Present surveys that users can complete at their own pace.

In the dashboard, create a Scene template and select it when composing your Message Center message. You can build the template ahead of time or create one as you compose. From the API, reference a Scene template by its template_id in your message. Performance data appears in the Message Metrics section of the message report.

Your Airship plan requires the Message Center Scenes add-on and impression-based billing. If your AXP plan currently uses impression-based billing, the add-on is automatically added to your account, with 30 days to opt out. Contact Airship Sales at cx@airship.com with any questions or to opt out.

Minimum SDK versions: iOS 20.10 and Android 20.9.
