Airship Data Export

Send structured Airship event data to your own cloud storage.

Using Real-Time Data StreamingA service that delivers user-level events in real time to your backend or third-party systems using the Data Streaming API., Airship exports event data to a cloud storage provider: Amazon S3 , Azure Blob Storage , or Google Cloud Storage (GCS). Data is available in two formats:

CSV — Airship writes batched flat files, one per event type per hour, that any tool reading CSV can consume. Use this format for ad hoc analysis or when loading data into a warehouse with an existing pipeline.
Parquet (Apache Iceberg) — Airship writes columnar files organized as tables that you register directly in your cloud data warehouse without a transformation step.

Requirements

This integration requires the following:

A cloud provider account with Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, or Azure Blob Storage
An Airship account with messaging and Real-Time Data Streaming

Configure a cloud storage provider

Create a storage location for your Airship data and configure credentials that the integration will use to upload files:

Amazon S3 — Configure an IAM user and retrieve the account access keys. See Managing access keys in Amazon’s IAM documentation.
Azure — Configure an Azure connection string. See Configure Azure Storage connection strings in Azure’s documentation.
Google Cloud Storage — Create a JSON-formatted service account key with the Storage Object Creator role. See Create and delete service account keys in Google’s IAM documentation.

Configure Data Export in Airship

You will need the following information about your cloud storage:

Amazon S3 — Access key ID, secret access key, bucket name, and AWS region
Azure — Connection string and container name
Google Cloud Storage — Bucket name and JSON-formatted service account key

Set up the integration in your Airship project:

Next to your project name, select the dropdown menu (), then Settings.
Under Project settings, select Partner Integrations.
Select Data Export.
Select Configure for the outbound integration and use the onscreen instructions to complete the following:
- Select your storage provider and enter your credentials. For Amazon S3, also select your region.
- Select a file format: CSV or Parquet (Apache Iceberg).
- For CSV, select a file layout: Standard, Simplified, or Flattened.
- Select the Airship events to send to your storage location.
- Options:
  - Specify a folder path to prepend to the file storage path.
  - Compress your data to save on storage space.
  - For Amazon S3, enable encrypting your data using server-side encryption .

After completing configuration, it may take several minutes to begin populating events.

CSV structure and files

You can select one of three file layouts for your Data Export integration when using CSV format:

Standard — The default layout, with date folders:
[folder_path]/appKey/integrationId/eventType/YYYY_MM_DD/YYYY_MM_DD_HH_mm_ss.csv
Simplified — Date components are included in the file names:
[folder_path]/appKey/integrationId/eventType/YYYY_MM_DD_HH_mm_ss.csv
Flattened — All components are included in the file names:
[folder_path]/appKey/integrationId/eventType_YYYY_MM_DD_HH_mm_ss.csv

Airship generates one file per hour when a relevant event occurs. Each CSV file includes a header row.
