# Content editors

Content editors are the tools you use to design and build content in the Airship dashboard.

[Push notifications](https://www.airship.com/docs/reference/glossary/#push_notification), [in-app messages](https://www.airship.com/docs/reference/glossary/#in_app_message), Open Channel messages, and [SMS](https://www.airship.com/docs/reference/glossary/#sms) support only plain text or have limited design options. For these, you configure content directly in text fields and related settings when creating messages.

For message types that support structured layouts, HTML, media, and other visual and interactive elements, you use editors to design your content:

* **Native Experience** — This is the built-in editor when creating [Scenes](https://www.airship.com/docs/reference/glossary/#scene). You can configure appearance, behavior, and [Branching](https://www.airship.com/docs/reference/glossary/#branching). See [Native Experience editor](https://www.airship.com/docs/guides/messaging/editors/native/about/).

* **Interactive** — This editor supports providing your own HTML or designing with a drag-and-drop interface. Use it to create content for [Message Center](https://www.airship.com/docs/reference/glossary/#message_center), [landing pages](https://www.airship.com/docs/guides/messaging/messages/content/app/landing-pages/), and HTML emails that are fully compatible with email clients. You can also design email [Preference Centers](https://www.airship.com/docs/reference/glossary/#preference_center) web pages that match your company branding. See [Interactive editor](https://www.airship.com/docs/guides/messaging/editors/interactive/about/).

A legacy [Visual editor](https://www.airship.com/docs/guides/messaging/editors/visual/) is also available for Message Center and landing page content.
